Visitor guide
Santa Fe de Antioquia, Antioquia’s mother town, lies in the department’s western subregion, 55 km from Medellín. Founded by Marshal Jorge Robledo, its colonial streets earned it the title of National Monument in 1960.
Its climate is tropical dry forest, with average temperatures between 23 °C and 33 °C. Here is what to see, when to come and how to get here.

A suspension bridge over the Cauca River, about 10 minutes from the centre, designed by José María Villa and 291 m long (Colombia Travel). It was built between 1888 and 1895 and declared a National Monument in 1978 (Turismo Antioquia).
The historic centre is best explored on foot: cobbled streets, colonial houses and a network of churches between 100 and 300 years old.
The Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, built between 1797 and 1837, stands on the Plaza Mayor, also called Plaza Juan del Corral, the meeting point of the historic centre.
The Church of Santa Bárbara, from 1728, is the oldest in the municipality. A suggested route runs from the Cathedral to Chiquinquirá, Santa Bárbara, Jesús Nazareno and San Pedro Claver.
The Museum of Religious Art and the Juan del Corral Museum hold colonial and religious art and objects that tell the town’s history.
The busiest dates are also the hostería’s high season: every long weekend and public holiday, Holy Week, roughly 5 June to 22 July and 22 December to 7 January. Book early on WhatsApp.
Walk the historic centre and the church route, try the tamarind sweets the town is known for, and come back to the hostería for the pool and jacuzzi and an à la carte dinner.

It is about 56 km and around 1 h 15 min by car from central Medellín (Turismo Antioquia), on the road to Urabá through the 4.6 km Fernando Gómez Martínez tunnel.
By bus, the trip takes 1 h 15 min to 1 h 35 min. The main companies are Sotrauraba and Rápido Ochoa, plus Cootransuroccidente and Transportes Gómez Hernández. Most buses leave from Medellín’s Terminal del Norte or Terminal del Sur, every 30 to 60 minutes between 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.
The hostería is at the entrance to town, 5 blocks from the main park, in the Santa Lucía neighbourhood, opposite Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM): Calle 9 Santander #1-192.
Hostería Mis Ancestros has 23 rooms for 2 to 8 guests, adult and children’s pools, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and about 65 à la carte dishes. Arrival from 9:00 a.m. Rates change with the season: message us and we will send the price for your dates.
